How do I make my own version of packaged cake mix ready for use in recipes?

Lots of recipes on the internet include 'box of yellow cake mix' or whatever. How do I make up my own dry mix, or is it just flour, a raising agent and sugar? How do I make my own version of packaged cake mix ready for use in recipes?
Use your favorite recipe, like Chocolate cake or something. Take all the dry ingredients and put them into a mason jar, Place an index card inside with a list of the wet ingredients to add later.

Chocolate chip cookies:

Dry ingredients that go in a jar = 1 cup raisins, 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup light brown sugar, 2 cups oatmeal, 1 cup chocolate chips.

Wet ingredients that will be added when cooked =

3 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup soft room temp margarine

It makes it easier to make fast later or give as a gift

Cake and cookies always must contain the baking soda and salt for the chemical reactions to happen. The soda makes them fluffy but too much will alter the taste and ruin the batch so follow a recipe.

Good luck with your cake! How do I make my own version of packaged cake mix ready for use in recipes?
The only thing in cake mixes is flour, baking soda, sugar and whatever flavoring you bought (like chocolate or vanilla).

Buying a cake mix is convenient but I don't recommend making your own.

One of the major drawbacks to cake mixes (to me) is that you lose the ability to cream the sugar and butter in the cake (because the sugar is already mixed in). Therefore, cake mixes use oil as a fat instead of butter. If you make your cake from scratch, you can use butter.
This is the recipe that I found works the best for a substitution - it makes three ';cake mixes'; - the two you don't use can be refrigerated or frozen in a ziploc bag.

7-1/2 cups sifted flour

1 Tbsp. salt

4-1/2 cups sugar

4 Tbsp. double acting baking powder

3/4 cup cold butter

In very large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar and baking powder and mix well to blend. Cut the butter into small pieces and place on food processor bowl along with 2 cups of the flour mixture. Cover and process until mixture is very fine. Add to remaining ingredients and stir well with wire whisk to blend.

Divide the cake mix into three equal portions (about 4 cups each) by lightly scooping the mix into measuring cups and leveling off with the back of a knife. Place each portion into a quart glass jar or heavy duty zip lock plastic bags. Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to a month, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
have you thought this through

the cake companies put their boxed mix on sale near the year end Holiday Season $1.00 卤 us.. The mix is sealed in a strong plastic bag I have some left from 2006 their fine..

To make you own WOW you have a storage problem

but as you please

edit

sorry but

listen,,, freezing has a bad habit of squeezing moisture and condensation

If you have one of those vacuum seal machine from Ronco

but then you do not have to freeze.. the bags are expensive and realy are not resuseable
Just mix dry ingredients together for a two layer yellow/white cake. Store in a ziploc bag until needed. Then you add your liquids... eggs and butter/shortening, etc.
