Can you taste test wedding cake recipes at multiple bakeries?

Do I taste test before or after signing a contract with a bakery for my wedding? Should I make appointments at multiple bakeries for taste testing different flavors of cakes? Can you taste test wedding cake recipes at multiple bakeries?
You should absolutely make appointments at multiple locations. Always go for taste first, then the look will fall into place. If the cake doesn't taste good then it won't matter how good it looks. During the initial appointment, the sales rep will get a feel for what you're looking for, etc and you'll either get to taste cake during the appointment or they'll give you a sample box of their most popular flavors to take home. Also, a lot of bakeries have open houses where they have samples out and you can try as many as you want - these are also usually their most popular flavors. If you want something exotic - like passion fruit - make sure you taste their version before signing the contract, in case you don't like it.Can you taste test wedding cake recipes at multiple bakeries?
I'm not sure about your question, and I'm not sure how long you have until your wedding, but check out bridal shows that are in your area (if there happen to be any). I went to one a few months ago around my town, and there were a bunch of bakeries that had cake samples there, and we found the perfect one. :)

Congrats and good luck!
Heck yes! You're spending hundreds, maybe thousands on cake they; better let you sample. Be aware though that a lot of bakeries use premade/frozen layer cakes.

You also might want to see if the reception venue makes cakes. Many times this is a much less expensive option. An added bonus is, you don't have to pay cutting fees or delivery charges.
If you have a wedding planner, they will set it up for you..if not, I would most certainly want to taste a cake before I ordered it for my wedding...ask at the bakeries you are considering...call and ask...they prob have a standing policy on this....
You should always taste the cake before you sign a contract because you do not want to order a wedding cake and pay all that money for a cake you do not like.It is best to do a taste test at different bakeries so you will know how the same cake will taste different. All bakers cook differently.
you can taste test before ordering, and I do recommend trying several bakeries. Some bakeries will even do different layers in different flavors.

Have fun planning your big day!
Absolutely do not sign a contract unless you have test the cake style, icing, and seen pictures of previously done cakes the way you want. If they won't let you taste test until after you sign find someone else. Once you sign the contract you have to place a non-refundable deposit and begin making payments or pay on the day of the wedding. Start calling the bakeries and get those taste buds ready!
Yes!

I would be wary of places that don't let you have a taste sample. I did a lot of taste testing before my wedding last year and boy was I glad I did -- some lovely cakes at fancy places were absolutely disgusting -- all the money went to the decorating and the actual cake tasted like a cheap mix.

I ended up getting my cake from a personal chef. It was less than half the cost of a cake from the well advertised wedding cake ';specialists'; and tasted a world better. Good luck!
Some will do a taste test before the contracts...many will not though to keep from getting ripped off by people who just want free cake.

Usually though, they will be happy to sell you a small sample at a small price if you want to compare them with others in the area. I think bakeries here charge like $5 bucks for a sample box with a slice of their top 8 flavors.

I reccomend always checking with AT LEAST 5 vendors before deciding on one. Would you buy the first car you test drove? Probably not. You may very well end up with the first car but you will check the other options first.
I'm not sure, but I'd think you can call and inquire about samples, sorry I'm not more of a help..my sister in law made my cake for my wedding, it was her gift to us--let me tell you a homemade cake; made with love; tastes so much better then a store bought cake.
You can make appointments to test before a contract at most bakeries -- I don't think that going to multiple places would be any problem. OR -- a bridal faire often has multiple bakeries represented with samples. It's kind of fun!
I would defiantly advise doing a couple of cake tastings at different bakeries. Get recommendations from friends. Never book a baker without trying their goods. Good luck! Cake tasting was one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning.
