Chocolate in cake recipes. Can I use chocolate chips instead?

A lot of cake recipes I look at ask for an amount of chocolate, chopped. For example, the one I just looked at asked for 14 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped.

The chocolate is meant to be melted anyway, so is it okay to just use chocolate chips? I always assumed it was, but I'm never too sure.Chocolate in cake recipes. Can I use chocolate chips instead?
Yes, that is perfectly fine to do, and also milk chocolate is fine as well. Just remember that milk chocolate will not be as strong as dark chocolate or baking chocolate. No big deal.Chocolate in cake recipes. Can I use chocolate chips instead?
It won't be the end of the world, but baking chocolate and the chips are not the same in either texture, taste , or melting points. It should totally work, but you'll get a different (possibly better) result. Send me some!!!
yes you can!

It does not matter.

choclate chips is choclate!!

Enjoy your cake! :)
yes you can
